“How would you describe it: blue, sapphire-hued, endless?” ~ Mati Unt, from Things in the Night

The Color of Water

If I could see my soul
would I know it,
recognize its form—
a hawk in flight, perhaps
or something not quite
so majestic.

How to tell
what lies
within
when so much
of every day
obscures
and cloaks.

Perhaps it is as blue
as I always thought
it would be.

How do you know but every Bird
that cuts the airy way,
Is an immense world of delight,
clos’d by your senses five?
