“If you trust in Nature, in the small Things that hardly anyone sees and that can so suddenly become huge, immeasurable; if you have this love for what is humble and try very simply, as someone who serves, to win the confidence of what seems poor: then everything will become easier for you.” ~ Rainer Maria Rilke, Letters to a Young Poet

I have an unusual love of rays. I couldn’t really tell you why other than I think that they are incredibly graceful and amazingly beautiful in the way their symmetrical bodies glide through the water. No real point here, Just felt like sharing.

Music by Ryan Adams, “Starlite Diner”

Ignorant Before the Heavens of My Life

Ignorant before the heavens of my life,
I stand and gaze in wonder. Oh the vastness
of the stars. Their rising and descent. How still.
As if I didn’t exist. Do I have any
share in this? Have I somehow dispensed with
their pure effect? Does my blood’s ebb and flow
change with their changes? Let me put aside
every desire, every relationship
except this one, so that my heart grows used to
its farthest spaces. Better that it live
fully aware, in the terror of its stars, than
as if protected, soothed by what is near.

~ Rainer Maria Rilke
