“Who are you, and what have you done with crazy Joe Biden” ~ Jon Stewart, “The Daily Show” (Monday, October 15, 2012)

“Not mathematically possible.” ~ Joe Biden in response to statement by Paul Ryan in VP debate

Tonight’s “Daily Show” was epic in so many ways, but especially in his review of the Biden/Ryan debate from last Thursday. Stewart summed it up Fox Noise’s response: “Joe Biden was an angry, demented, abusive, drunk, old crazy person…who mopped the floor with our guy.” Stewart also acknowledged the excoriating moderating job by Martha Raddatz: “I don’t know what it was, but the lost language of journalism being spoken on modern television!”

I’m posting the Hulu link so that you can watch in case you missed, but below are screen shots from Jon Stewart’s interview with author J. K. Rowling. Loved it!

Can you tell me how to get, how to get to Sesame Street?

I really wish that I could find a way around the inability to put Comedy Central videos in WordPress posts, but until I do, I’m going to have to settle for links. This one is from Monday night’s “Daily Show” with an epic Stewart piece on how the funding for Big Bird et al is miniscule in comparison to other budget line items. And by the way Lou Dobbs can’t do math . . .

Here’s part of a piece by Meenal Vamburkar followed by a link to the clip:

On Monday night, Jon Stewarttook on the presidential debate. In particular, the Big Bird Debacle of 2012. “Who fires Big Bird?” Stewart asked. Then proceeding to mock the reasoning behind the conservative outrage over federal funding for PBS.

You’d think cutting Sesame Street funding wouldn’t make much of a dent in grand scheme of things, Stewart observed, but you couldn’t be more wrong. Eight million taxpayer dollars fund the show.

Not a huge line in the budget, but it’s about principle! Cue Lou Dobbs‘ criticizing President Obama for wanting to cut $4 billion in tax breaks for Big Oil. That’s only 0.0008 percent of the $5 trillion Obama’s added to the deficit, Dobbs exclaimed.

Thus, by conservative logic, Stewart pondered, eight million is greater than four billion? And why do conservatives feel so strongly anyway? The answer lies in many angry comments that include “propaganda” and “brainwashing.”

So Fox News is “upset that empty-headed puppets are trying to brainwash and indoctrinate Americans?”

“Perhaps you could sue them,” Stewart quipped. “The charge could be copyright infringement.”

O Bama, Where Art Thou?

Last night, Jon Stewart took President Obama to task for performing so blandly on Wednesday night’s debate. I have to agree. What happened to the eloquent Obama, the POTUS who could?

Anyway, here are a few more grabs from the piece since I can’t post Comedy Central videos here on WordPress . . .
